  * X TrueType is based on the "X-V server" by Junji Takagi.

  * The basis of X TrueType is developed by Go Watanabe
    (go@cclub.cc.tut.ac.jp). And, Go Watanabe incorporated
the source codes into the distribution files up to Ver0.6 X-TT.

      - made a code converter table and made it dynamic loadable, and
      - designed and implemented TTCap.

  * The current version of X-TT was merged by the xtt07pre patch, which was
developed by Mutsumi ISHIKAWA (ishikawa@linux.or.jp). He also maintains
the X-TT package in Debian-JP. With his help, X-TT is supposed to
adopt to Debian 2.0 (Hamm) Japanese version. He is also working
to port X-TT to the next release series of XFree86.

 1.5 History and Changes
 -----------------------

  On March 11, 2003
The After X-TT Project was established on sourceforge.jp.
  On February 27, 2003
XFree86-4.3.0 was released, containing almost all the important fixes of
    X-TT.
  On February 25, 2003
The fix for Linux/PPC was applied in XFree86's cvs tree.
  On February 23, 2003
Began investigation of the high frequency of server crash on
    Linux/PPC.
  On January 7, 2003
Chisato's first patch was applied in XFree86's cvs tree.
  On Xmas, 2002
Chisato Yamauchi began debugging X-TT on XFree86.
  In the early December, 2002
Chisato Yamauchi, Masanori Shimada and Arihiro Mizutani sent complaints
to xfree86@xfree86.org. "Reliance of XFree86 has nosedived."
  By November, 2002
Although serious bugs existed, almost nobody maintained X-TT.
Some sent patches to XFree86. However, they were refused for the reason
that XFree86 was not interested in X-TT.
  In ?, 2000?
Takuya SHIOZAKI retired as the maintainer, and Tadayoshi OKUMA was
    inaugurated as a new maintainer.
The X-TrueType Server Project stopped its activity.
  In October, 1999
X-TT version1.3 [Aoi MATSUBARA Release 3] was released.
  On August 30, 1998
X-TT version1.0 [Aoi MATSUBARA Release 0] was released.
It is our first official release.
The code name of X-TT Ver1.x series is "Aoi MATSUBARA".
  On August 1, 1998
Many encoding functions for western words were added.
  On July 12, 1998

    in the X-TT mailing list.)
  On May 24, 1998

the conference on JUS PC-UNIX held in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
In the early morning on May 23, 1998
The dynamic font loading method in the code conversion routine
    was completed.
  On May 18, 1998

  On April 11, 1998
    TTCap was added.
  On March 30, 1998
X-TT version0.5 [MULTI Beta Release 5] was released.
    Its features were as follows:
                * The calculation method for the proportional fonts was
                  corrected.
                * The TrueType collection was supported. (It has now been
                  replaced by TTCap.)
  On March 22, 1998
Many encoding routines for far east countries' languages were added
    in the code conversion routine.
  On Febrary 24, 1998

    Its features were as follows:
                * Changed the libfont library into shared one.
                * Some character sets were added.
                * The Matrix Transformation method was adopted.
                * The Slant was adopted.
                * The proportional fonts were added.
  On Febrary 6, 1998
X-TT version0.1 [MULTI Beta Release 1] was released.
This is the first beta release of X-TT.
All of beta X-TT distributions (Ver0.x) have a same code name as "MULTI".
  On Febrary 4, 1998
The X-TT Mailing list started its service.
  In October 1997
X-VFlib was released. It was made very well, in spite of using the
functions that were covered by VFlib2 (*1), and was very robust at
    the time of its release.
  In October 1997
In the fj.comp.x11 newsgroup, Mr. T.A. and Mr. G discussed X fonts.
  In September 1997
In the computer center of C. University, Mr. KmoP and Mr. S made some
discussion about VFlib again. (At that time, Mr. S knew that there were a
    "msf2bdf" for Win3.1.)

  At the beginning of 1997
In M labo., Department of Science and Electrical Engineering,
    C. University, Mr. KmoP and Mr. S discussed whether VFlib could be used
    on X or not.
   --------
*1 VFlib is a rendering library for Japanese vector fonts. Since version
3 was released, it has been able to deal with proportional western
fonts. In version 2, however, it was only able to deal with monospaced
fonts. This means that it could be used only in the Japanese environment.
