Larry McVoy currently works Silicon Graphics in the Networking
Systems Division on high performance networked file systems and 
networking architecture.  His computer interests include hardware 
architecture, software implementation and architecture, performance issues,
and free (GPLed) software issues.
Previously at Sun, he 
was the architect for the SPARC Cluster product line,
redesigned and wrote an entire source management system (now productized
as TeamWare),
implemented UFS clustering,
and
implemented all of the Posix 1003.1 support in SunOS 4.1.
Concurrent with Sun work, he lectured at Stanford University on
Operating Systems.
Before Sun, he worked on the ETA systems supercomputer Unix port.

Carl Staelin works for Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in the External
Research Program.  His research interests include network information
infrastructures and high performance storage systems.  He worked for
HP at U.C. Berkeley on the 4.4BSD LFS port, the HighLight hierarchical
storage file system, the Mariposa distributed database, and the NOW
project.  He received his PhD in Computer Science from Princeton
University in 1991 in high performance file system design.  He may be
