a pure Rust implementation of the AES-GCM. Starting in version 0.10.0 and prior to version 0.10.3, in the AES GCM implementation of decrypt_in_place_detached, the decrypted ciphertext (i.e. the correct plaintext) is exposed even if tag verification fails. If a program using the `aes-gcm` crate's `decrypt_in_place*` APIs accesses the buffer after decryption failure, it will contain a decryption of an unauthenticated input. Depending on the specific nature of the program this may enable Chosen Ciphertext Attacks (CCAs) which can cause a catastrophic breakage of the cipher including full plaintext recovery. Version 0.10.3 contains a fix for this issue.","title":"Vulnerability description"}],"product_status":{"fixed":["SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.aarch64","SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.x86_64","SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-bash-completion-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.noarch","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.aarch64","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.x86_64","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-bash-completion-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.noarch"]},"references":[{"category":"external","summary":"CVE-2023-42811","url":"https://www.suse.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-42811"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Bug 1215654 for CVE-2023-42811","url":"https://bugzilla.suse.com/1215654"}],"remediations":[{"category":"vendor_fix","details":"To install this SUSE Security Update use the SUSE recommended installation methods like YaST online_update or \"zypper patch\".\n","product_ids":["SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.aarch64","SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.x86_64","SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-bash-completion-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.noarch","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.aarch64","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.x86_64","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-bash-completion-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.noarch"]}],"scores":[{"cvss_v3":{"baseScore":4.7,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:N","version":"3.1"},"products":["SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.aarch64","SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.x86_64","SUSE Linux Enterprise Module for Basesystem 15 SP5:rage-encryption-bash-completion-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.noarch","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.aarch64","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.x86_64","openSUSE Leap 15.5:rage-encryption-bash-completion-0.9.2+0-150500.3.3.1.noarch"]}],"threats":[{"category":"impact","date":"2023-10-12T08:05:57Z","details":"moderate"}],"title":"CVE-2023-42811"}]}
