I am a contrast to you: I can read English a bit, but I hardly
write in English.

Plane ghostscript don't support Japanese characters. If you want
to display or print them, try ghostscript with Japanese and VFlib
support patch, which will be found in ports category japanese, named
vfghostscript*.

Vfghostscript*'s port/package will overwrite existing ghostscript
installation, so take care.

Vfghostscript depends on VFlib package, software library
to deal with vector fonts. If you install it with port/packages,
a Japanese font named watanabe font is installed in ready to use.
