Never mind! You can install the binary packages of these Japanese apps.
Take a look /cdrom/packages/japanese after mount /cdrom, then install
them
by using pkg_add command, like this:

 # pkg_add Canna-3.2.2.tgz

For more infomation, man pkg_add.

We usually use emacs (mule) or vi (elvis) of Japanese version to type
Japanese script. There are some dependences among the packages.
Typical combination of the Japanese packages is like this:
    Canna-3.2.2.tgz + jp-cmule-2.3.tgz
This one is just my favourite :-) I'm using mule with canna at home.
    Wnn-4.2.tgz + jp-wmule-2.3.tgz
    Wnn-4.2.tgz + jp-wkinput2-2.0.1.tgz + kterm-6.1.0.tgz +
jp-elvis-1.8.4.tgz
are also possible. It's up to you lah.

I think a lot of Japanese people are using generic 101 kbd.
